The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) on May 06, 2026, issued a notification regarding End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) EPR Compliance.
The following has been stated:-
•The Gujarat Pollution Control Board has issued a public notice regarding the implementation of the Environment Protection (End-of-Life Vehicles) Rules, 2025, effective from April 01, 2025.
•The rules introduce Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for environmentally sound management, recycling, and disposal of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs).
•Producers, Bulk Consumers, and Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) must register on the CPCB EPR Portal before undertaking any commercial activity.
•The rules apply to most vehicle categories, including electric vehicles, but exclude agricultural tractors, trailers, power tillers, and combine harvesters.
•RVSFs operating without valid consent have been directed to stop operations immediately and obtain required approvals, failing which action may be taken under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
